Unfortunately the message from Judge William Thomas’ decision in the Aaron Cohen case is this: If you choose to drink and drive and hit someone — for heaven’s sake but mostly for your own sake — flee the scene. Do not stop to render aid and do not call 911. First: call your attorney. Don’t worry. Your recent documented history of substance abuse will be ignored. Your sentence will be light; some days in Miami-Dade County jail. Take note, Miami, of Judge Thomas’ decision. This coddled killer will be on our streets in no time.

His claim that the still-unanswered question of where President Obama was and what he did was irrelevant, since Obama was in contact with his staff, was particularly outrageous.
