If you’re going to be in China ringing in the Year of the Snake, you might want to bring a little extra souvenir money. This 380-gram gold snake, displayed at a jewelry shop in Hong Kong ahead of the Chinese lunar new year celebrations beginning Feb. 10, is expected to fetch nearly $26,000.

    Everest climbing season in disarray after deaths

    Nepal’s attempts to salvage the Mount Everest climbing season fell flat Thursday as major expedition companies canceled their climbs and many Sherpas quit the mountain after an avalanche killed 16 of their fellow guides last week.
