A pedestrian was killed Thursday night as he tried to cross Interstate 95 in North Miami-Dade, blocking northbound traffic at the Golden Glades interchange for almost two hours.
By 11:15 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol was directing a trickle of northbound vehicles along the expressway’s shoulder, but the travel lanes remained closed.
The man had been walking east across the northbound lanes of I-95 just south of the 167th Street exit about 9:15 p.m., FHP troopers said, when a northbound vehicle struck and killed him.
Neither the pedestrian nor the driver was immediately identified.
FHP was continuing its investigation, and had no estimated time for a complete reopening of the expressway.
