A 16-year Hialeah employee stands accused of stealing more than $10,000 in water and sewer payments to the city.
Hialeah police arrested Ivis Valdes on Wednesday, charging her with grand theft.
Although customers were getting the services they paid for, the city never received payments, according to an arrest document. Valdes, 46, has returned $5,200 of the stolen money so far, police said.
She most recently worked as a supervisor in the customer service section of the Hialeah Water and Sewer Department.
Valdes, who faces a court hearing on March 1, is suspended without pay while the investigation continues.
