Special to the Herald

Local chefs in Miami Springs have ironed their aprons and sharpened their knives in preparation of the Thirteenth Annual Taste of the Springs on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Miami Springs Optimist Club.

“There will be a variety of foods from our area restaurants as well entertainment,” said Jim Borgmann, president of the Miami Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, which is sponsoring the event along with the Springs River Festival.

Borgmann is extending an invitation to neighbors throughout the county to join in and sample some of the city’s finest cuisines. So far, about a dozen restaurants have signed on including Burritoville, Bryson’s Pub and a Little Bit of Philly.

Aside from samples, there will be a cash bar open until 7 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will benefit this year’s River Cities Festival. Residents are encouraged to buy tickets in advance at Johnny’s Soda Fountain, 45 Curtiss Parkway or by calling 305-508-8080.

There will be a limited amount of tickets available at the door.

If you own a restaurant and would like to participate, please call 786-525-3368.

The event is from 4-7 p.m. at the Miami Springs Optimist Club, on Hammond Drive between Wren and Oriole Avenues

Tickets are $20.
