Fort Lauderdale will celebrate Black History Month with events on three Saturdays in February.
The festivities will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday with “Remembering Our Roots,” a live music and dance festival at the Riverland Park.
The Kijiji Moja event on Feb. 16 will feature ethnic crafts, drumming circles, tribal storytelling and live entertainment from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Joseph C. Carter Park.
The month’s celebrations will end with the Sistrunk Parade and Street Festival on Feb. 23. The parade will start at 8:30 a.m. at the New Mount Olive Baptist Church, and the street festival will begin at 11 a.m. in the Sistrunk Corridor between northwest 24th and 27th avenues and inside Delevoe Park.
Entry to the parade will be $5 per person for those 12 and older or $5 for each group of children younger than 12.
