Re the Jan. 26 article, FDIC sets out to educate teens about finances: The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is the arm of the federal government that’s responsible for controlling almost all of the banks in the country. You know how they screwed that up. Now they want to teach kids prudent management of money. That’s like sending the wolf to guard the hen house. They aren’t qualified.
The only qualified unit is the family and with so many working parents, teaching thrift is impossible. This holds true in teaching children in all aspects of life. Family breakdown is responsible for most of the troubles of this country.
