Armed man barricades himself in Hallandale Beach home

An armed man, who had barricaded himself inside a Hallandale Beach home, surrendered to police after a nearly three-hour standoff, according to police Maj. Thomas Honan.

The unidentified man was taken into custody at about 2 p.m.

“Our negotiators did a great job,” Honan said. “He walked out without incident.”

Police were called to 26 SW 10th St. at about 11 a.m. because of a domestic dispute between two brothers. Honan said a man pointed a gun at his brother.

Several blocks surrounding the home at 26 SW 10th St. were blocked off with police tape and officers beginning about 11 a.m..

Honan said the city’s SWAT team and negotiators worked to get the man out of the house. No one else was inside and no one was hurt.
