Andrea Dorsey scored the game-winning goal in the 50th minute to lift the two-time defending Class 5A state champion St. Thomas Aquinas girls’ soccer team (22-1-1, No. 1 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll) 2-1 over Douglas in the Class 5A regional semifinal.

Athletes of the week

Kayla Wright, Dillard, girls’ basketball: The reigning Class 5A Player of the Year had a game-high 23 points and 17 rebounds to help the Panthers reclaim the BCAA Big 8 title with a 56-29 victory over rival Nova.

Osner Valmeus, Boyd Anderson, wrestling: Valmeus won the 138-pound division to help the Cobras beat South Plantation 23-18.

Sidney Umude, St. Thomas Aquinas, boys’ basketball: The 6-7 forward scored a game-high 24 points to help the Raiders (16-3) hold off Miramar 69-63.

Francisco Patalano, South Broward, boys’ soccer: Patalano scored two goals to lift the Bulldogs (14-4-2) over Fort Lauderdale 2-1 for the District 15-4A title.

DeLise Williams, Coral Springs Christian, girls’ basketball: Williams had a game-high 26 points to lead the Crusaders (18-5) over Archbishop McCarthy 50-34.

Chris Delinoise, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ soccer: Delinoise scored two goals to lead the Chiefs (17-6) over University School 2-0 in the District 14-2A title game.

Kristi Isabella, South Florida HEAT, girls’ soccer: Isabella had a goal and an assist to lead the HEAT (17-6-4) over Boca Christian 5-0 in the Class 2A regional semifinals.

Sarah Cooper, Douglas, girls’ basketball: The 6-2 center had a game-high 23 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks to power Douglas (17-5) past Cardinal Gibbons 68-40 in the BCAA Big 8 quarterfinals.

Martha Thomas, American Heritage, girls’ soccer: Thomas had three goals and an assist to lead the Patriots (23-2) over Jensen Beach 6-0 in the Class 3A regional semifinals.

Wolky Belancourt, Coral Springs, wrestling: Belancourt won the 145-pound division to help the Colts beat archrival Douglas 52-24.

Jose Morales, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ basketball: The standout sophomore had a career-high 28 points to help the Chiefs (18-2) outlast University School 72-64 in overtime.

Samara Stolzenberg and Elizabeth Martinez, Cypress Bay, girls’ soccer: Stolzenberg made three consecutive saves and Martinez converted the game-winning penalty kick to lift the Lightning (16-2-2) over West Broward 1-0 (6-5 PKs) in the Class 5A regional semifinals.

Samuel Vincent, American Heritage, boys’ soccer: Vincent’s goal in the 75th minute held up as the Patriots beat Pines Charter 2-1 for the District 16-3A title.
