It’s now mathematically impossible for Democrats to win a majority of seats due to shameless partisan gerrymandering. We have, by far, the largest percentage of African Americans ineligible to vote in the country. And our local politics is considerably tilted right-ward because we never have our elections on high-turnout presidential election days.
We can’t address any of South Florida’s problems until we have a fair institutional framework. As for the biggest issues facing South Florida, transit and economic inequality top the list.
