Man taken to hospital after car plunges into Hialeah canal



Firefighters pulled an unidentified man from his vehicle after it plunged late Saturday into a Hialeah canal.

He was taken to nearby Palmetto Hospital unconscious, said Hialeah Fire Rescue Captain Cesar Espinosa. The elderly man’s condition was unknown.

The car careened into the water on a frontage road about 8:30 p.m. near 4th Avenue and 66th Street. A bystander attempted to rescue the man, but failed.
