Man arrested in MacArthur Causeway hit and run

A 66-year-old man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital after he was knocked from his scooter while driving on MacArthur Causeway early Saturday.

Jean Colas, remained on the pavement until police arrived and he was taken to the emergency room, a Florida Highway Patrol official said.

Miami police discovered the nearly destroyed yellow scooter several blocks away about 5:30 am in front of the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Miami, troopers said

Hours later, police arrested 27-year-old Christopher Prestol north of U.S. Highway 1 near Mariposa Avenue in Coral Gables. He was being charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
