U.S. Century Bank, which is still operating under a regulatory enforcement action, said regulators have approved the addition of a fifth director to its board: John Ward III.
Ward’s recent background includes such previous positions as chairman and chief executive of the American Express Bank and president of the American Express Travelers Cheque Group, and chairman and chief executive of Doral Financial Corp., a Puerto Rico-based financial services company. Prior to joining American Express, he had a 27-year career at the The Chase Manhattan Bank, where his last position was chief executive of Chase BankCard Services and executive vice president of the bank.
Ward’s bio says that he has “successfully turned around and grown a diverse group of financial services companies, both domestically and internationally.” He lives in New York.
Ward will serve on the board of U.S. Century, based in Doral, along with Chairman Ramon E. Rasco, bank president and chief executive Carlos J. Dávila, Frank Angones and Jose Cancela.
