With news of the riches to be garnered by successful python hunters, folks from far and wide have descended upon the Everglades in pursuit of the prizes. With a staggering $1,000 being offered up for the longest snake, and an even more generous $1,500 going to the proud hunter of the most snakes, the results have been mind boggling. Just think of it: a grand total of 27 snakes eliminated from a python population estimated to be in the tens of thousands! At this rate, the next Ice Age could be here before the pythons are under control.
