Criticism of Hagel goes too far

 

So letter writer Walter Sygman thinks it’s OK to link Chuck Hagel to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion?

His letter is a perfect example of the depths to which our political discourse has sunk.

President Obama routinely gets mentioned in the same sentence as Stalin and Hitler and now Chuck Hagel is a modern-day embodiment of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion because he mentioned a “Jewish lobby?”

I wonder how Mr. Sygman would describe the American Israel Public Affairs Committee?

If somebody wants to argue that Hagel will endorse policies that are damaging to Israel, even though the evidence for that appears to be worse than flimsy, that’s one thing.

It’s another thing entirely to equate Hagel with the racist ideology represented by the protocols.

    I am always proud of the Silver Knight nominees from Miami-Dade County. When the winners are printed in The Miami Herald, the categories, from art to world languages, can be easily read. But even with the best of bifocals, I need a high-power magnifier to read the students’ names. The Herald should print the names a little larger to honor these outstanding students more fully.
