Music-producer-turned-hotelier Jon Baker, who opened Geejam as a recording studio used by bands like No Doubt and expanded it into a five-room hotel near Frenchman’s Cove in 2007, is out with another project: renovating Port Antonio’s storied Trident. The Gleaner reported a soft opening of the first phase of the project was sold out. The Trident Hotel features plunge pools and outdoor baths in most of its 13 rooms. Nearby, the lavish whitewashed Trident Castle estate will house eight rooms and a guests-only restaurant. Geejam is planning to open a restaurant and botanic garden in April at the Blue Lagoon, a well-known swimming hole nearby.
