Job fair moving to ice-hockey arena

Davie’s Signature Grand wedding hall used to be big enough for a job fair. Now organizers need a stadium.

Unemployment may be down, but job fairs keep growing.

Job News, which runs some of the largest hiring expos in the region, will move one formerly held at the Signature Grand in Davie will now be held in the BB&T Center in Sunrise. Almost 8,000 turned out to the Signature catering hall in October, which caused long lines outside the Davie facility’s ballrooms. This is the fair’s first time at an arena, and about 35 companies are lined up for the Jan. 22 event at the home of the Florida Panthers ice-hockey team.

“We won’t have any problems at the arena,’’ said fair manager Tiffany Price. “We’ve outgrown Signature Grand.”

The free job fair will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at BB&T. The address is One Panther Parkway. For more information, visit jobnewstfl.com.
