Weather alert: Cold front brings 50s, 60s to South Florida

Miami Herald Staff Report

A cool front that swept into South Florida late Thursday will linger through the day Friday.

“We may have a hard time getting to 70 degrees,” said David Bernard, chief meteorologist at Miami Herald news partner CBS4. That, he said, will be a “shock to the system” for South Floridians basking in unseasonable heat this month.

With Friday morning’s mid-50s wakeup, this is about as much of a winter break as we’ve seen so far. It won’t be as chilly Friday night, with temperatures in the low-60s.

The forecast through the weekend calls for highs in the 70s, with lows in the mid-60s.
