Mind-boggling Carollo

 

Joe Carollo has been an embarrassment to the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County for over 20 years. How the city of Doral decided to hire him as city manager boggles the mind. Apparently Mr. Carollo’s friendship with Luigi Boria, the mayor of Doral, trumps any consideration of proper vetting or professionalism.

Merritt Steirheim showed his grace, experience, professionalism and maturity by taking the high road and not commenting directly about Carollo’s hiring. Mr. Carollo on the other hand, continued his standard and absurd rendition of politics and government by publicly stating some extremely vile and derogatory remarks about Mr. Steirheim. Carollo has shown, once again, as he has throughout his political career, how classless, unprofessional and inflammatory he is.

    Teachers risk their lives

    Between the horrific shooting in Connecticut and the devastating tornado in Oklahoma, schools, tragically, have been at the epicenter of the carnage. In both cases, teachers put their lives on the line to protect their charges, innocent children, by placing themselves between the kids and harm’s way.

    The Pentagon wants $450 million for improving and maintaining the Guantánamo Bay prison. President Obama has made a promise and wants to close the facility that houses cq166 prisoners; however, he has faced opposition from Republican and Democrats in Congress.
