Dana Milbank’s Jan. 10 piece, Can Chris Christie rescue the GOP?, is right on in its theme that Gov. Christie’s political style is what most Americans want in a GOP politician. Sen. Marco Rubio could learn much from this article and its depiction of how Christie is positioning himself to become the new GOP leader.
If Rubio were smart, he would recognize that he has a unique opportunity to take the lead in moving the GOP back into the mainstream of American politics, starting with a full embrace of the DREAM Act, not his compromised version, and support responsible gun control legislation, which most Americans support. By the end of 2013 he could become a formidable leader with whom Christie and others would have to contend.
