Homicide detectives Thursday night were investigating the killing of a Canadian couple found in a Hallandale Beach townhouse.

Police identified the couple Friday morning as David Pichosky, 71, and Rochelle Wise, 66. The cause of death, police said, is still under investigation.

Police said Pichosky and Wise were found about 6:20 p.m. in their unit at Venetian Park in the 900 block of Northeast 25th Avenue.

“We have few details on how they were killed, but this is definitely a double homicide,” said Hallandale Beach police spokeswoman Capt. Sonia Quinones.

The gruesome discovery was made by a neighbor who became concerned about the couple.

“The man and woman were supposed to have had lunch with this neighbor on Wednesday but never showed up,” Quinones said. Repeated telephone calls to the couple went unanswered.

Thursday afternoon the same neighbor, who had a key to their unit, went to check on the couple and discovered their bodies, Quinones said.

The couple was known to spend winters in Hallandale Beach.
