Liberty City shooting victim identified

 

Police have released the name of a woman who was shot to death in Liberty City on Monday night.

Police have identified the woman who was shot to death Monday night on a Liberty City street.

According to witnesses, Kandie Gill, 37, was standing on the sidewalk in front of 1254 NW 53rd St. at about 8:30 p.m. Monday when an unidentified person began shooting out the window of a vehicle.

Gill was hit by the fire. She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she died.

According to Miami police, Gill was not pregnant despite earlier accounts from neighbors.

Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide and encourage anyone with information to contact the Miami Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 305-603-6350. To give information anonymously, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-4877.
