A new survey confirms it: South Beach is the best beach for getting an eyeful.

The Travel + Leisure 2013 Best Beaches survey ranks South Beach as the number one destination for people-watching, followed by Venice Beach in Los Angeles and Ipanema Beach in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro.

The results of the online survey, which was open to readers on travelandleisure.com from Sept. 18-Oct. 31, appear in the magazine’s January issue.

Other Florida beaches got mentions as well, including Cayo Costa, a state park on the Gulf Coast named fifth-best for seclusion and Seaside Beach in the Panhandle, declared best for families.
