Brad Pitt is now on China’s version of Twitter, and it’s going pretty well.

The actor’s verified Sina Weibo account sent the message Monday: “It is the truth. Yup, I’m coming.” That was forwarded more than 31,000 times and netted over 14,000 comments, many expressing surprise. He gathered more than 100,000 followers. As per IMDb.com, Pitt was banned from entering China because of his role in 1997’s Seven Years in Tibet. The government was upset about the film’s portrayal of harsh Chinese rule in Tibet.

Damage control

Justin Bieber is scrambling to turn around his image. The 18-year-old singer paid a special visit to a leukemia patient at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City Saturday the day after pictures of him smoking what looked like pot hit the Web, according to Deseret News.

TMZ published pictures of the teen sensation smoking something resembling a marijuana cigarette in a Newport Beach, Calif., hotel room. Though the singer has yet to address the incident, he tweeted about “growing and learning” and bettering himself.

A source told Us Weekly Bieber’s reps aren’t “happy about how those photos were leaked” and are investigating.

Among those with Bieber in the hotel room was JB Twist. The Young Money rapper was reportedly behind the wheel of Justin’s Ferrari when a paparazzo tailing the vehicle was hit by a car and killed last week.

On the tube

Jenny McCarthy says she’s looking to Hugh Hefner’s old Playboy After Dark as an inspiration for her new gig. The onetime Playmate will host a late-night talk show Fridays on VH1 starting Feb. 8. A party atmosphere is key. E.g., one segment she plans is the “groundbreaking interview,” which is talking to guests while both are lying on the ground.

For the first time in 40 years, the host of the Academy Awards will help announce the Oscar nominations. Seth MacFarlane (along with Emma Stone) will reveal the nominees Thursday morning.

On his upcoming NBC family comedy, Michael J. Fox will play a newscaster who had quit his job due to Parkinson’s Disease but returns to work in the show’s first episode due to a new medical regimen. It mirrors the life of the former Family Ties star. Fox is meeting with actresses who may be cast as his wife.

One too many?

Thomas Gibson didn’t end his weekend on a high note. LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told the Associated Press the 50-year-old actor was arrested early Sunday after he drove through a barricade set up to keep cars off the course of a night run through downtown. Gibson was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI; bail was set at $15,000.

Never-ending story

Lindsay Lohan’s attorney predicts there will be no case against the actress in connection with an alleged fight at a NYC nightclub in November when she allegedly smacked Palm Beach psychic Tiffany “Ava” Mitchell. Attorney Mark Jay Heller spoke after signing paperwork at the courthouse Monday. Office of Court Administration spokesman David Bookstaver confirmed that a criminal complaint has not been drawn up at this time.
