An investigation is underway after Hialeah police fired on a burglary suspect Wednesday morning.

Police received a call about a truck parked outside B and R Marine, a marine supply business, at 1040 E. 26th St. The caller said it might have been a burglary because they saw a man jump over the fence in the front of the building.

When officers arrived, they reportedly confronted the burglary suspect, who took off in a truck. Police fired on the truck, which crashed into three vehicles before it slammed head-on into a parked car.

At least one round fired by an officer hit the suspect in the neck, police said. He was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The owner of B and R Marine said he recognized the truck the man was driving, and said he might have been a customer who bought a boat from him.
