Bomb squad detonates suspicious bag at Metrorail station

Train service has returned to normal at the Government Center Metrorail station after a bomb squad investigated a suspicious bag Wednesday morning.

The package was spotted next to a garbage can on the east side of the station at about 6 a.m., according to Daniel Ramos, security at the Metrorail station. When Miami police responded, they couldn’t determine what was in the bag, which was a waist-high plastic container, and called in a bomb squad.

Train service to and from the platform was temporarily stopped. After further investigation, the bomb squad safely detonated the bag.
