The woman found in the back yard of a foreclosed home in Dania Beach last week has been identified as Mary Swinford, 56.

Swinford was last seen leaving her own home at 2638 SW 45th St. in Dania Beach about 10:30 p.m. Christmas Eve. She was described as being “despondent’’ at the time.

Her body was found five days later by someone checking out a foreclosed home at 2951 SW 46th Ct. The person called police after finding Swinford in the back yard.

Originally, detectives said they were investigating Swinford’s death as a possible homicide, but the Broward Sheriff’s Office found no obvious signs of foul play, said spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion.

The Broward Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined a cause of death.
