Tunnel delays in Fort Lauderdale not over yet

 

Work that closed the tunnel at night was supposed to be over in September. It still isn’t.

Three months after construction was supposed to be completed, the end finally is in sight for work on the Henry E. Kinney Tunnel and U.S. 1 in Fort Lauderdale.

Since spring, the tunnel has been closed Monday through Thursday nights, beginning at 9 p.m. The closures stopped on Dec. 20, but will resume on Jan. 2, with completion set for the end of January, officials say.
