A video released Wednesday by North Miami police showed the armed crew of men who robbed a jewelry store, shot the owner Christmas Eve — and after all that almost forgot to take the gold they were after.

The video shows five men bursting into the jewelry store inside the flea market at 13995 NW Seventh Ave. Their faces are covered by hats and bandanas. One person breaks the display glass, police spokesman Maj. Neal Cuevas said, while another guards the door.

The other three start firing indiscriminately inside the small store, Cuevas said.

Employees and customers throw themselves to the ground as the gunmen take over. One person, the owner, is shot. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is expected to survive.

“It’s a miracle nobody else was injured or killed,” Cuevas said.

The men leave — but without taking anything. So they come back, Cuevas said, grab gold from the smashed cases and leave a second time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
