It’s hard to understand why, other than politically-motivated opposition to President Obama and everything he tries to do, several Republican governors, including our own Gov. Rick Scott, have stridently complained that the Affordable Care Act represents a federal takeover of the healthcare system, but have refused to set up insurance exchanges as required by the law, thus forcing the federal government to implement exchanges that will run the marketplace for private insurance in their states. Through their hard-headed ideologically-driven decision, they will get just what they have criticized and claimed to be trying to avoid. This is not just ironic; it appears to be an example of extreme self-defeating cynicism.
