Two men robbed a North Miami jewelry store on Christmas Eve and shot the owner, police said.
It happened about 7 p.m. inside the flea market at 13995 NW Seventh Ave., said Maj. Neal Cuevas, a police spokesman. At least 30 people were inside the market at the time, Cuevas said, some visiting a beauty shop, others picking up last-minute Christmas gifts.
At least two gunmen came into the store, stole an unknown amount of gold and shot the store owner in the upper torso, Cuevas said. The men drove away in a gray Chevrolet, northbound on Seventh Avenue.
“I don’t think they were worried too much about the Christmas spirit,” Cuevas said.
The jewelry store’s owner, whose name was not released, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment. He was expected to survive, Cuevas said.
Police asked anyone with information to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
