GOLF

After winning the Class 1A state title, the American Heritage boys’ golf team continues to shine — only now on the international stage.

Three Patriot golfers — Kristian Caparros, Robert Geibel and Jorge Garcia — made the second-round cut at the South Beach International Amateur Wednesday afternoon.

Caparros led the three with a 2-under-par 68 Wednesday and is at 2-under139 through two rounds. Geibel, a senior Louisville recruit, and sophomore Jorge Garcia shot even par 141. Caparros is seven strokes behind the leader of the 198-player field, which includes 70 golfers from 24 countries.

All three played at Miami Beach Golf Club Tuesday before clinching their spots among the 75 golfers to make the cut at Normandy Shores Wednesday. Another round at Miami Beach Golf Club will be played on Thursday and Friday before a winner is crowned.
