The style scene

Shoshanna: ’Tis the season to be stylish

Designer Shoshanna Gruss (nee Lonstein) has hit the Internet — her site, that is.

Shoshanna.com is a destination for her clothing and swimwear collections as well as an access pass to insider shopping events, sales and style tips. The New Yorker and mom has some advice for us Miami gals dressing for the holiday party onslaught in a word: lace.

“It’s one of my favorite trends this season,” she says. “It’s such a sophisticated fabric and great in so many different silhouettes. If you live in a place where it’s warm year round, try a sleeveless or three quarter sleeve lace dress in navy or oxblood so it still has a fall feel. It will instantly become a wardrobe staple for the season.”

Shoshanna, whose fans include Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon and Eva Longoria, is also a staunch supporter of sequins and any sort of glitter, adding that gold is golden on the South Florida circuit. “The holidays are the perfect time to shine so don’t be afraid to stand out.”

If you’re headed to a more buttoned-down work event: “A simple shift or sheath dress that will easily take you from a day at the office to the party that night is perfect. Keep it simple with flats and jewelry during the day. Then slip into fabulously high heels and throw on a pair of great earrings or statement necklace for the office party later that evening.”

Going out to the crazy clubs or a fancy gala? The fashionista loves a great strapless or one-shoulder dress. “Look for something with a touch of sparkle or in a bold color such as lipstick pink.”

Say you’re hanging out at the homestead with relatives, you can’t go wrong with a neat (literally) tuxedo pant. “Pair it with a classic turtle neck or beautiful blouse and add a statement necklace to complete the look. You’ll be comfortable, festive and still able to move around and have fun.”
