City of Sunrise to host candlelight vigil for Sandy Hook victims

The city of Sunrise will host a candlelight vigil Friday to mark the one week anniversary of the school shooting tragedy in Newtown, CT.

The observance will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Sunrise Civic Center Amphitheatre, 10610 West Oakland Park Blvd.

The names of the victims will be read and large angels will be illuminated in their memory.

The 26 lighted angels will later be placed in an arc along the lake in front of Sunrise city hall.

Sunrise residents are invited to share a moment of silence and honor those impacted by the tragedy.
