The driver of an SUV was hospitalized after they careened of Florida’s Turnpike and slammed into an apartment building in Hollywood.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the white SUV was traveling north on the turnpike when for some reason the driver veered of the road about a quarter of a mile north of the Pines Boulevard exit.

The SUV crashed through a chain link fence and hit a car before it slammed into an apartment building in the 4700 block of Northwest 24th Court where it caught fire. Several bystanders pulled the injured driver from the burning SUV. There was no one else in the vehicle.

The FHP has not released the driver’s name or condition.
