Quarter-by-quarter: Dolphins vs. Jaguars

FIRST QUARTER

•  Impact player: Chad Henne made a nice first impression on his return to the Gardens as he completed his first two passes for 44 yards, including a 38-yard pass to Justin Blackmon.

•  Highlights: There wasn’t much to see in the opening quarter of this snoozefest. The biggest cheer came at the coin flip as Hall of Famers Larry Csonka, Paul Warfield and Bob Griese went out to the 50 in their snazzy gold jackets.

•  Lowlights: The Miami secondary got burned a few times in the opening quarter as Henne passed for 56 yards. Sean Smith was called for pass interference with 1:30 left for making lots of contact on Cecil Shorts III.

SECOND QUARTER

•  Impact player: Ryan Tannehill made up for a fumble by driving the Dolphins down field late in the second. Tannehill completed all seven passes for 45 yards — including a 4-yard strike to Jorvorskie Lane in the end zone for the first touchdown of the day.

•  Highlights: The Dolphins got extremely lucky when Henne’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Justin Blackmon was wiped out on an illegal substitution call on lineman Guy Whimper. Henne was stopped on a fourth-and-1 plunge from the 11.

•  Lowlights: Instead of taking a sack on second down, Tannehill looked to throw as being wrapped up and fumbled the ball. Dawan Landry recovered the fumble.

THIRD QUARTER

•  Impact player: Reggie Bush got the Dolphins going on their second possession by going around right tackle and sprinting 53 yards to the 19. Bush had 23 yards on his previous six runs prior to that.

•  Highlights: Tannehill did a lot of nice things on Miami’s second scoring drive of the quarter, including finding Brian Hartline for 17 while under pressure and running for 30 yards down to the 27.

•  Lowlights: The Dolphins took three points off the board when punter/holder Brandon Fields chucked an uncatchable pass to Anthony Fasano on a fake field goal with 9:33 left. The Jags took over on the 5 and trailed by a TD.

FOURTH QUARTER

•  Impact player: Tannehill did a nice job managing the fourth quarter as Miami was able to move the ball and eat plenty of clock. On the Dolphins’ touchdown drive, Tannehill completed all five pass attempts for 33 yards — including a 2-yard strike to Fasano for a score.

•  Highlights: The Jaguars were desperate for a score and moved to the 15 before Miami stopped them on fourth-and-1 with 12:13 left. The Dolphins then marched down the field and scored their second touchdown of the game with 3:12 left to ice things.

•  Lowlights: The Dolphins came into the fourth leading by 13 and didn’t do anything to jeopardize a win over the Jaguars.
