A husband who had recently moved from Las Vegas to join his wife in Hallandale Beach was identified Wednesday as her killer.

Joseph Gomez, 55, shot his wife in the shoulder at the Park Layne Towers condominiums, 400 Golden Isles Dr., Monday evening. After a seven-hour stand-off with Hallandale Beach Police, Gomez turned his weapon on himself.

Tatiana Pintilie, 47, was found in the hallway by neighbors, who called for rescue. But Pintilie died of her injuries.

Police Chief Dwayne Flourney said a letter was found in the couple’s unit, penned by Gomez. In it, he admitted shooting his wife and wrote that he intended to take his own life.

Neighbors recalled Gomez and Pintilie as being a beautiful couple, and said Gomez had a “jokester’’ personality.
