Three people have been hospitalized and the Broward County Courthouse is closed following a gas leak near the garage area.
Video from Chopper 4 showed the gas spewing into the air shortly before 9 a.m. however the gas has been shut off to the jail and the courthouse.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials said it was a 4-inch gas leak but nobody is sure how the gas line was hit. The gas made some people sick -- three people were transported to a hospital with complaints of nausea, according to officials.
The Broward courthouse was evacuated and will remain closed until at least 11 a.m., according to courthouse spokeswoman Meredith Bush.
