I’m a resident of Cooper City. On a recent weeknight my 14-year-old daughter and I went to the Bill Lips√ Sports Complex to practice her softball pitching. Four fields lay empty with the lights on. Children were playing soccer on the other side of the complex.
After 10 minutes, a park employee asked us to leave, stating that since it is soccer season, there’s to be no softball. And, since she doesn’t play Optimist sports in Cooper City, she wasn’t allowed to be there.
Are these fields not for the children of our community?
While I wasn’t happy, I left. At a field in another area, I asked an employee to turn on the lights on an empty field, which he did, and my daughter was able to practice on a field outside of our home city.
What a shame!
