Man, woman gravely shot in Overtown

A man and a woman were shot multiple times Sunday night in Overtown.

Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said the man and woman, who were not immediately identified, were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in extremely critical condition. They were shot about 7:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Northwest Second Avenue in front of the 17th Street Meat Market.

Police said a vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene, but its make and model were unknown. It was unclear whether the person driving the vehicle was connected to the shooting.

A man who said he was the woman’s brother told WSVN-Fox 7 that she was shot in the head and the stomach, and was eight months pregnant.
