Shots fired as Opa-Locka police chase down dirt bike rider

eadearmas@MiamiHerald.com

A dirt bike rider was arrested Sunday after leading Opa-Locka police on a chase and a possible exchange of gunfire.

The incident began at around 4 p.m. at Northwest 113th Avenue and 26th Street when officers determined the rider had a gun. When they approached him, he took off.

More officers joined in the chase and shots were fired during the incident, but on Sunday it was unclear if the suspect or the officers discharged their weapons. Unclear also is whether the suspect was struck by any of the bullets.

The chase eventually ended near Northwest 39th Street and 12th Avenue where the unidentified suspect was taken into custody.
