Ex-boyfriend shoots woman in parking lot of Sunrise church; commits suicide

An area surrounding Faith Center Ministries in Sunrise was cordoned off Sunday afternoon after a domestic shooting in the church’s parking lot.

Sunrise police said a woman was shot as she headed for her car. The suspect was believed to be her ex-boyfriend.

The shooting occurred at around 1 p.m. at the church in the 5500 block of Northwest 95th Avenue near Nob Hill Road.

Police said the woman managed to get into her car, with her 12-year old daughter, and drove off for a short distance. The girl was not harmed.

The unidentified shooter then turned the gun on himself, according to police. He later died at the hospital

The woman was also transported to an area hospital. The extent of her injuries were unknown Sunday afternoon.
