Letters to the Editor

No compassion

Sen. Marco Rubio should be ashamed of his No vote on the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Treaty.

This treaty is the same as the disabilities act that was established during the George H.W. Bush administration. Already ratified by 125 countries, it would hold foreign nations to the same high standard of treatment that the United States already maintains for people with disabilities. And it would safeguard American citizens when they’re abroad.

Evidently, Sen. Rubio has no compassion or empathy and certainly doesn’t display even a semblance of a profile in courage.

According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses currently provide 55 percent of all jobs and are responsible for 66 percent of all net new jobs since the 1970s.

  • The Marlins? Ho-hum

I feel like we don’t have a baseball team in Miami anymore. At least not a bonafide Major League team.

  • Governor doesn’t care

By signing HB 655, which bars local governments from enacting their own ordinances on employee benefits, Gov. Rick Scott shows once again that he is beholden to big business at any cost — even at the expense of women, children, workers and those falling behind.
