Benefit theft

 

Re the Dec. 5 article, Top economic official resigns after benefits controversy:

According to Senate President Don Gaetz, Hunting Deutsch’s receipt of unemployment benefits while on a European vacation was “bad form.” It wasn’t bad form, it was illegal.

Receipt of unemployment benefits requires one to be ready, willing and available to accept immediate employment if offered. Cavorting about Europe is hardly being available.

In the old days before computers, the unemployed had to report weekly in person to receive benefits.

Today you can "phone in" via computer, an invitation to the abuse perpetrated by Deutsch.
