Magic Mike’s Adam Rodriguez coming to town for Chivas event

Adam Rodriguez put in roughly a decade on CSI: Miami playing Detective Eric Delko. These days, the actor is kicking back a bit.

“I don’t miss the 5 a.m. wakeup calls,” says the native New Yorker. “Change is good. It’s nice to have time to do other things and focus on other projects.”

Other projects like ... drinking.

Rodriguez will be in town Wednesday night as the guest of honor at the Chivas Regal 1801 Club, 255 NW 25th St., Miami. The event, featuring tastings, mini seminars and cocktails, is open to anyone who signs up at www.chivasbrotherhood.com.

Soon Rodriguez’s scotch days may be limited. It’s looking pretty likely there will be a sequel to Magic Mike, the male ensemble stripper drama that, um, entranced many viewers earlier this year.

“I haven’t seen a script yet,” says Rodriguez. “But I know it’s in the works, hopefully next year.”

To get ready to play Tito, who was barely dressed most of the movie, was no cakewalk.

“It was definitely the most intense preparation I had to do for a role physically,” he says. “”I was trying to get as muscular and lean as possible.” That meant cutting out all his favorite foods and drinks as well as two hours of cardio and one hour of weights a day for six weeks straight.

“It was a huge commitment. I dieted like crazy. I monitored everything I put in my body,” he says. “But I was highly motivated. I knew the other guys were going to work just as hard as I was.”
