Reality meets Art Basel

lank@aol.com

It was a surrealistic painting come to life at the Thursday night dinner thrown by real estate tycoon Aby Rosen and wife/shrink/socialite Samantha Boardman at The Dutch. A name dropper’s heaven, the night was straight out of a Tom Wolfe novel, where tycoons mixed with reality schlock, heirs, heiresses and Owen Wilson. In one corner: the Kardashians--Kim and Kourtney, who just joined for dessert; in another, Paris and Nicky Hilton -- very 2003.

Then there was the after party at Wall where Carmelo Anthony, Gavin DeGraw and Kellan Lutz rubbed elbows with artists and socialites they’ve never heard of and where Kanye West flipped the bird. Klassy. Absent? Demi Moore (seen, instead, strolling around The Shore Club with a small group), despite the fact that her rumored beau Vito Schnabel was throwing the party.

On Thursday, ex Entourage star Jeremy Piven, refused to flip the switch on the InterContinental Miami’s 19-story LED Digital Canvas because the images of sultry dancing women were bad for his image. According to our spy, Piven was hot on the trail of a comely redhead seen dining with him and an, uh, entourage, at the hotel’s Toro Toro. Said redhead we’re told, “wouldn’t give him the time of day,” and “he was pissed.” He wasn’t the only one.

Despite, gasp, suffering salmonella poisoning from Thanksgiving turkeys, Martha Stewart is fully recovered and making her rotations in a carefully choreographed way. No one parties younger than the 71-year-old, who was also seen Thursday lunching at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink with Lee Schrager and later at the InterContinental.

Marcia Cross was seen with her husband Tom Mahoney Wednesday night at The Hole Gallery and Playboy’s party at the Delano.

Will Smith and wife Jada are also in town to support Smith’s son Trey (from a previous marriage), aka DJ AcE, who was set to spin a four-hour set Friday at Jelsomino and at Bâoli Miami on Saturday. The entire Smith family—including Jayden and Willow— was also seen Thursday having dinner at Zuma before Trey’s DJ debut at LIV.

Random Sightings: Burlesque dancer Dita von Teese at the AmFar party Thursday night at Soho Beach House; American Horror Story: Asylum actress Kate Mara Thursday at Carrera and Architectural Digest’s AD Oasis at The Raleigh; Diddy Thursday night at the Rick Ross concert at The Fillmore.

For stars, ‘Hangover’ was a game changer

Four years ago, Bradley Cooper had built a solid reputation as a scene-stealing supporting player. Ed Helms was best known for his sweet but buffoonish Andy on The Office. And few, besides comedy-club bookers and his own family members, could wrap their mouths around the last name of Zach Galifianakis.
