I love when conservatives quote the Congressional Budget Office to support their economic theories, and then disdain it when it supports the contrary. For example, the CBO projects that Obamacare will actually cut the federal deficit in the future. According to conservatives, the CBO in this case merely has an opinion.
Glenn Garvin also fails to mention in his Dec. 4 Other Views column, Of pipe dreams and fairy tales, that the top fifth of folks paying the 23 percent of taxes control over 23 percent of the country’s wealth, while the so-called 47 percent who pay no federal income tax because of deductions or extreme poverty, are paying 40 percent of the government’s budget through payroll taxes. Who’s the one spinning fairy tales?
