Family Winter Concert

There’s another chance to hear The Children’s Voice Chorus at its second annual concert at 5 p.m. Dec. 16 in Davis Chapel at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church, 14401 Old Cutler Rd. in Palmetto Bay.

The community-based chorus, comprised of children ages 7 to 16, was launched in the fall of 2011. The winter concert will include music from the classics to jazz and pop, and will be based around the themes of hope, faith, love and unity, said founder and artistic director Jamie Sutta.

“The choristers are beyond excited to share their gifts with the community,” she said. “Our goal is to bring in children of all cultural and economic backgrounds and teach them about coming together as one to create beautiful music.”

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children, and can be purchased at the door. For more, or to inquire about audition opportunities for your son or daughter, visit www.childrensvoicechorus.org or write to info@childrensvoicechorus.org, or call 786-216-7003.

Make A Float

Join in the fun at the 64th annual Junior Orange Bowl Parade by building and marching with a float or show your spirit with your group in front of thousands of spectators. Dance, cheer, cultural, and musical groups are all welcome as are corporations and small businesses.

“The Parade is a great opportunity for organizations to highlight their youth services and proudly showcase their hard work in front thousands of people,” said Parade Chair Kathleen Slesnick.

The parade is free and will take place at 4 p.m., Dec. 30 on the streets of downtown Coral Gables. The theme is “Sailing to New Adventures.” Applicants can choose to design their own floats, decorate a vehicle, or enter a group to march the parade route. The deadline has been extended to Dec. 16. To download a float application go to www.jrorangebowl.com/parade.
