Sophomore standout Jordan Scarlett rushed for 253 yards and three touchdowns as the University School football team (10-0) exacted revenge for its loss to 2011 Class 3A state champion American Heritage-Delray with a 34-17 come-from-behind victory in the Region 4-3A finals.

Athletes of the week

Darrion Allen, Blanche Ely, boys’ basketball: Allen scored 11 of his 13 points, highlighted by a momentum-swinging dunk in the pivotal second quarter, to help the reigning Class 7A State champion Tigers turn back archrival Dillard 65-54.

Yarisbeth Bradfield, Archbishop McCarthy, girls’ soccer: Bradfield scored both goals as the Mavericks (7-2) beat nemesis Cardinal Gibbons 2-0.

Matt Dayes, Cypress Bay, football: Dayes scored three touchdowns to help the Lightning (10-2) roll over its nemesis Miramar 34-14 in the Region 3-8A semifinals.

Alex Artaza and Austin Katz, Western, boys’ basketball: Artaza’s three-pointer forced overtime, and Katz had a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds to help the Wildcats stun perennial state power Boyd Anderson 60-58 in overtime.

Steve Etienne and Kevin Gomez, Coral Springs, boys’ soccer: Etienne and Gomez each scored a goal to lead the Colts (2-1) over Flanagan 3-2.

Ebony Griffin, Sagemont, girls’ basketball: Griffin had a game-high 14 points and 20 rebounds to lead the visiting Lions over Hialeah 52-35.

John O’Korn, St. Thomas Aquinas, football: The Houston commit threw for 201 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown pass, and ran for another score to help the Raiders (10-2) beat visiting Plantation 38-7 in the Region 4-7A semifinals.

Brandon Danzansky and Jonathon Bell, Pine Crest, boys’ soccer: Danzansky and Bell each scored to lead the Panthers (5-2) over archrival North Broward Prep 2-1.

Rickae Jinks, Miramar, girls’ basketball: The 6-2 Tulsa signee had a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Patriots (1-0) over Cooper City 74-39.

Derrick Tindal, Boyd Anderson, football: Tindall had two key interceptions to help the Cobras (9-2) upset Palm Beach Dwyer 6-3 in the Region 4-7A semifinals.

Vanessa Agudelo, Douglas, girls’ soccer: Agudelo’s goal led the Eagles (8-0) over Cypress Bay 1-0.

Nick Thorn, Archbishop McCarthy, boys’ basketball: Thorn had a game-high 18 points to help the Mavericks hold off host Miami LaSalle 56-53.
