Behind a career-high four goals from Brianna Raaf, the Douglas girls’ soccer team won a battle of two unbeaten teams, defeating Pines Charter 6-2 at Silver Lakes North Park on Monday night.

“It’s a game that we kind of had circled on our schedule,” Douglas coach Stu Katz said. “We were looking forward to it. [Pines Charter’s] always a tough team.”

Katz says his Eagles (9-0) had to play a more physical style than they’re accustomed to in order to pull this one out.

“We can play good soccer, but we can out-muscle teams and out-hustle teams as well,” he said.

Raaf, the senior committed to UCF, now has 20 goals on the season. Her four goals served as a solid bounce-back effort after being shut out for the first time all year in Douglas’ last game, a 1-0 win against Cypress Bay.

Mya Goodman and Kayla Faulkner each scored a goal for Pines Charter (9-1).

Douglas is looking to repeat as District 11-5A champions and expand on previous success.

Last year the team reached regional semifinals before running into eventual state-champion St. Thomas Aquinas.
